For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere, spring is upon us. How does your life change as the weather gets warmer?
Well, yesterday we took our first walk / bike ride of the season. That definitely made it feel like spring is, in fact, around the corner.
The snow is almost completely gone aside from a few piles left here and there. Of course, I know that living in ND we are bound to get a few more snowstorms before we're officially done. However, I can feel confident that any snow we get will not stay around for long.
Soccer starts in mid-April.
I've heard birds chirping outside the windows.
Yesterday was a beautiful November day with lots of sun, temperatures around 40, and very little wind. At 4:15, I came downstairs to use the computer. I went back up at 4:45 to get Lily ready for dance. I almost fell on the floor when I looked out the window and it was a blizzard! It just came out of nowhere! The temperature dropped 4 degrees just on our drive to dance. The snow only lasted a few hours, dumping about an inch. However, the temperatures continued to plummet and got to a low of -9 last night. Brrrr! It's not January yet!
Then there was the weather in the Steelers game last night. The rain looked about like our snow. I have to admit that was the most boring football game I have ever seen. Thank goodness they pulled it out because we seem to have a habit of losing to the teams that should be easy.
That is what my children have. Tonight, they thought it would be a good idea to have a snowball fight inside the house. I was downstairs editing one of Ray's papers for his master classes. To make it worse, the cleaning ladies were here today so the house was clean! ARGHHHHHH!!!!
I really thought last week's snow would be our last of the year and melt right away. I was wrong on both accounts. Its been snowing steadily since yesterday morning. We have 5 inches with another 1-2 expected by noon when our snow advisory expires. I like winter and snow, but this is getting a bit ridiculous. View from our front window.
View from sliding glass doors. Can't say I'm terribly excited about it. Last year's was better than usual so hopefully this one will be a repeat performance. It almost got cancelled due to weather. This is what it looked like outside my front window last night.
And here's what it looks like now out my back window. Its finally starting to let up. We've received 4-5 inches.
As I was taking the boys to school this morning, my cell rang and it was Ray asking me to come pick him up. He has a 10 mile drive to work on a windy, narrow, 2-lane road. From the sound of his voice, I thought he'd had a crash. Instead, his truck had just died. I wasn't very excited about driving out of town in the snow even for just 3 miles and a co-worker went by and towed him back to town before I headed out. We've had so many car troubles this month. I was just dreading another big bill. Thankfully, its just the fuel filter. Turns out its not so easy to install in a newer vehicle so he's still home. He did take time out for a conference call and to take me out to lunch. A nice treat for me since we don't get to do that very often.
