Thumbs Down:
- I stunk at golf league again this week. I also golfed Monday and Wednesday and apparently my problem is nerves at women's league because I golf much better when I'm not at that!
- My Great Aunt Betty passed away this week. She was 84 and had Alzheimer's so it was a blessing but always sad. She looked a lot like my Little Grandma so I always felt closer to her when Betty was around. I'll be going to Billings with my parents for the funeral tomorrow.
- Big Ben being accused of rape by some gal in a civil case because the DA won't even prosecute. I don't buy it for one second.
Thumbs Up:
- Lily had her 1st sleepover of the summer last night. It worked out especially well because then the boys and I went golfing. After that, Cody babysat Jace while Ray & I met my parents down at the Pub. My mom's best friend and husband were in town for the first time in 3 years.
- They've finally started roofing the house and the stucco guy should be coming soon.
- It's been a pretty uneventful week so I can't think of anything else!
Stinky:
- I'm signed up to do the women's golf league for the first time tonight and the wind is blowing about 50mph and it's raining off and on. Sure hoping it quits in the next 2 hours!
- I miss my friends back in ND.
- Our house still hasn't sold. Supposedly there was a really positive showing last week but we haven't had an offer. It really needs to sell SOON!
- Coming home Sunday night to a terrible mess left by the babysitter and kids including a pint of chocolate milk sitting on the counter, everything from supper left out, and the kids still awake when it was 1 1/2 hrs past when they were supposed to be in bed!
Perfume:
- Ray & I went on the 2nd annual Cattle Crawl Sunday night. It's a progressive beef dinner. We started out at the Cattle-ac for appetizers, then we went to my parents' restaurant for their big salad bar, next we hopped on 2 large busses and went 10 miles to Fairview for a roast beef dinner, and then we went another 30 miles for a steak dinner before returning. There was a free drink at each stop plus free beer on the bus. Of course, I felt like my normal, boring self because I wasn't drinking.
- The deck being built on our new house.
- Meeting more people.
- Going to Billings this weekend for the soccer tournament. The coach is very impressed with the boys' skills. It'll be nice to bond with the other families, too.
- Seeing my cousin from AZ in Billings this weekend. I think it's been about 5 years!
My hubby's birthday is today and my brother's birthday is Thursday so they opened some of their presents yesterday.
My parents got Ray coordinating exterior lights for our house!
My brother and I made use of his new present and headed to the golf course. He hadn't golfed since middle school so wanted to do 18 holes.
I've only once ever golfed 18 holes and it was only my 2nd time golfing this summer so my arms weren't quite in shape. By hole 10, I could hardly hit the ball. A couple behind us gave me a great pointer that I'd never heard before and it helped so much!
My mom made an angel food cake for dessert. My arms are still killing me today.
Yesterday, we were busy running around getting new cell phones set up, mailbox, and touring the schools. The kids all seemed excited. It's so strange having the kids go to the schools we went to. We also spent time up at the new house which is AMAZING!! All the exterior walls are done and most of the interior ones. Lots of pictures to share on that front later.
This morning, all 3 kids had Jr. Golf. It's every Wed. morning. Of course, each kid is in a different class: Cody - 8 am, Jace - 9 am, and Lily - 10 am. Our new house isn't too far from the Country Club so that won't be much of a drive but my mom's on the opposite corner of town. I was really impressed with the instruction they received. We're still trying to get unpacked and this afternoon all 3 kids have playdates! Lily & Cody are each at the homes of 2 of my closest friends from h.s. and Jace's new friend from the lake is over here playing.
Sadly, the soccer tournament we were going to attend in Bismarck this weekend was cancelled. I'm glad I didn't know about that before we got here because it was easier leaving knowing that we were going to see our closest friends in 5 days.
It's been 4 1/2 months in the making but moving day has quickly arrived. It's been a crazy week packing and spending time with friends. On Friday, Cody and I had a golfing excursion with his good friend and his mom. It was my first time out for the season and it was so nice to be golfing again! Saturday evening, we played pinochle with Gndsgang. I'm happy to say that the girls went out on top creaming the guys in all 3 games! (We were due).
Sunday was my last time singing with the AWE group at church. The scheduled accompanist was a no show so we had 20 minutes to practice 8 songs with another accompanist who'd never seen some of the music. I was so nervous about it that I hardly had time to be sad about it being my last day but things did go well and our family was remembered in the prayers. We signed with a new realtor so prayers are welcomed on that front. There were 3 soccer games during the afternoon and we were blessed with temps in the 80's plus a small rain shower. Lily scored 3 goals. Cody scored one goal on a corner kick but his team lost right at the end 3-4. Jace has had a fantastic season and finished strong. His team won 7-3 with Jace making 4 of the goals, 2 of which were from half field! I believe his team went undefeated.
We went to supper last night at Paradiso with Bluebird and family. She gave the family a nice card and then one for me. Of course, it made me cry. The good news is we're letting the boys play with their competitive soccer teams for one tournament in Bismarck this weekend. So, we'll see all of our closest friends in just 5 days which makes leaving much easier.
I wasn't very excited about moving to Jamestown, ND, when we graduated from college. ND was the state we always made fun of growing up on the MT/ND border. However, I have grown to love ND and the people who live in it. Our time here has been filled with memories that we'll cherish forever: having 3 children, making wonderful friends, growing spiritually, directing 3 musical groups which I never thought I'd do, becoming a SAHM, Ray climbing the corporate ladder faster than anyone thought possible, and having our children attend Catholic school. It's hard to say what we'll miss most about Jamestown (it won't be the blizzards) but I do know that this is definitely not goodbye. There is too much here for us not to visit often and we'll be counting on our friends to come visit us, too!
Montana, we're coming home!
What brings out your competitive nature?
Just about everything. Though I'm not very athletic, I am competitive. Ray & I love to try and beat each other at golf & bowling. When playing games & cards, I like to win. I hardly ever let my kids win at something unless I've really been creaming them. It's just not in my nature. I think a little competitiveness is a good thing.

I love being outside with friends and trying to improve my game. (I'm pretty competitive). I hate how much it makes me swear!
If you could play on any golf course in the world, which one would you choose?

There are many golf courses I'm not familiar with but the one in ND that I really want to conquer and haven't yet is the new Bully Pulpit Golf Course in Medora. The scenery is just breathtaking.
