Last night was the annual HOPE (Help Offer Private Education) dinner & auction at our school.  This is an event that takes a year to plan and is highly anticipated. 

I look forward to it because it's about the only time that a person has a chance to really dress up around here.  My mom is a sweetheart and always buys my dress.  Unfortunately, I spent most of the evening pulling this one up to cover my bra and I even bought a new one just to wear with it!

This year's theme was Tuscany.  As always, the decorations were fabulous.

They even decorate the bathrooms.  It was the best meal to date.  There was a salad, spicy soup, appetizer that resembled lasagna, beef with couscous, and a yummy dessert of vanilla ice cream with strawberries & blueberries atop half a frozen lemon.  I would never think to mix lemons and ice cream but it was divine!

The 2nd graders always provide the entertainment by singing & dancing.  The big ticket items in the auction are projects completed by each class.  We didn't bid on any of them this year but I took a picture of each of my kids' projects.

Each child painted a tile to match the above painting.

Jace's class did this stained glass window.

Lily's class made an art cart.

I won the only thing I bid on and that was a certificate for a birthday party at the gymnastics club with $50 in pizza and a Dairy Queen ice cream cake.  I paid $80 for it so I think I got a steal. 

We sat with our neighbors and 2 other couples we didn't know.  As always, Ray was Mr. Social and he abandoned me the last 2 hours of the auction (did I mention there's an open bar).  I told him I'm bringing a date next year because I don't figure he'll notice!  I was hoping to go home around 10:30 because we had a big church service to prepare for this morning but Ray wasn't done partying so we had to meet up with everyone at the KC Hall afterwards.  I had my maximum of 1 drink but felt hungover today with a bad headache.  I'm calling it my sober hangover.  Ray, on the other hand, could barely talk when we left at midnight but felt fine today!

It's a toss up between my china hutch,

secretary, new vanity, or new dresser

It pains me not to have the "before" shots to show you but I must've forgotten to take them.  You will get to see our old bedroom set before long when I share pictures of Cody's new room but it has a few things left to tweak.  Let's just say that it was 1/2 the size of this one and its made out of particle board.

I had to take a picture of the bed with the original sized box spring that we started out with.  You can see why I needed a ladder to get in it!

Low profile bed spring?  Much better!  I do still need to hoist myself into bed, though.

When the delivery men brought the dresser in, they said if there's ever a tornado that levels our house, the dresser will still be standing LOL.

An official photo of the bed with the new curtains.  These curtains are the only part I'm questioning.  All my accents are mainly gold and there's a gold stripe in the comforter but I'm not sure how I like them with the lavender paint.

This shelf was already here and the bench was at the foot of our old bed.  My aunt made the blanket.  I don't love the white in here now but its going to stay for the time being.  In 3 - 4 years, I'd like to repaint and go with a teal color.

I have to add that since getting this new bedroom set, I have not gone one day without making the bed.  That's truly unheard of for me as I've never been very good at making my bed.  Also, I have not been to the chiropractor once, the masseuse once, or even felt the need to as my shoulders have been so much better.  Here I thought it was computer use causing my problems!

Our dining room table was inherited from my Big Grandma.  It had recently been refinished without the leaves and my dad told us the wrong color so we need to get them matched someday.  I usually have a runner over the leaves so you can't tell.  Obviously, the chairs are new.

Things I'm Not Liking:

1. That I can't find pictures of our bedroom before we got the new furniture because I want to share the "after" pictures! 
2. Ray not feeling well.  Its rare that he comes home from work.  Hope he's not getting a migraine.
3. Gndsgang having to cancel our golf date.

Things I Like:

1. Cody calling from camp last night.  Sounded like he was having a blast.  He even caught a small perch and sauger while he was fishing!
2. A night's sleep without one interruption or any crying!  Hallelujah!
3. Ray coming home from work so I could snuggle with him.  He's usually gone before I get up.
4. Its ladies day at the golf course!

Yesterday, our new Super Walmart opened.  Since I had some kid-free time today, I spent a few hours slowly browsing every aisle.  It felt like I was in a different town.  We're not going to know what to do with all those choices and everything was so nice and clean.  I even found some exciting new things:  a floor lamp to go next to my vanity in the bedroom and curtains!  Maybe I'll finally be able to share pictures when we get the curtains up.  So, I give it a thumbs up and declare it truly SUPER!

Things I'm Not Liking:

1. It's very cold & rainy so Gndsgang and I didn't get to go golfing.
2. Crabby children.

Things I'm Liking:

1. We really need the rain.
2. Tonight is my last PTO meeting.  I've been treasurer for the past 3 years.  We're meeting over dinner at Perkins so I don't have to cook either.
3. Listening to Cody practice his tenor sax. 
4. My new bed.  I haven't given an update in quite awhile but my shoulder problems have disappeared ever since we got the new bed.  Maybe it wasn't the computer that was my problem but the bed!
5. Ray started painting Cody's room last night!  With any luck, we'll be moving him into his new room within the week.

Things that are not so good:

1. The freezing cold temps that we had to sit through at the track meet tonight.
2. Cleaning house.
3. Hearing that Lily qualifies for speech services (hard to hear even when you know it's coming).
4. Kids who are refusing to go to bed and stay in their rooms!

Things that are good:

1. Cody taking 2nd place in the long jump.
2. Lily qualifying for speech services so her articulation problems can be corrected.
3. Root beer float party to conclude my kids' choirs for the year.
4. Eye sight that is 20/20 in the left eye and 20/15 in the right eye one year after Lasik.
5. A mommy who buys me things to enhance our new bedroom furniture.
6. The gorgeous 75 degree weather that was here until the track meet started.

A flattering picture?  Definitely not.  How I'm feeling this morning?  Yes!  I dropped the kids at school looking forward to a relaxing morning at home.  Fixed my tea, headed down to the computer, and an alert came up that I had an eye appt. in 2 minutes!  Fortunately, the office is only 2 minutes away so I made it on time.  However, I didn't even get out of the waiting room until 45 minutes later!  Add another half an hour onto that before I was totally done.  I was really annoyed.  I got home, went to the bathroom, came out to go warm up my tea when I looked out the front window to see the furniture truck.  Forgot that they were coming to replace one of the bed posts.  Now, I only have an hour left before I have to pick up Lily.  I hope the rest of my Monday calms down!
