I hate that I'm falling behind on my blog. This last week of school has been crazy busy and there are lots of things I want to post about but don't have time! Cody's 6th grade graduation was tonight and it was wonderful. Now, he's at a friend's house for the post party that goes until 1 am! Jace & Lily go to school tomorrow until 11:15 and then we're heading for the lake. Of course, that means I have 3 hours tomorrow to pack everyone and have the house spotless in case anyone wants to see it while we're gone. I guess all the busyness of this week has made it harder for me to dwell too long on all the "lasts". However, I know the last day of school tomorrow is going to require a box of kleenex. At least I can look forward to our first weekend of the summer at the lake!
What a wonderful day I had yesterday! I was the first one awake because I had to be at church early. Cody was disappointed that I was already up when he woke up because he planned on bringing me breakfast in bed. However, he did still make me pancakes!
After church, we had to rush for dinner at the Buffalo City Grille because we had less than an hour before soccer games started. Luckily, it was a buffet so we were able to eat quickly.
Jace and Lily each had soccer games at 1. Ray & I took turns watching 1/2 of their games. Jace's team won 10-5 and he scored at least twice. Lily's team lost pretty badly. At 2:15, Cody's team played. Either the goal net was backwards or it had a force field around it because Cody had about 20 shots and not one made it in the net!! They lost 0-2. While we were finishing Cody's game, Lily went with the neighbor to watch her game. Guess that was good because her team was shorthanded so Lily filled in. I actually got a little pink after 3 hours in the sun.
We came home for a few hours and Ray and the kids cleaned out my car. I still have a gift certificate from Christmas to have it detailed but first the junk had to get cleared out!
At 6:00, we went to the 2nd annual Mother's Day Dance at our church.
Cody's still got some awesome moves!
This is Jace's favorite song.
Ray & I got one polka in. Man, is that a lot of work! I thought my lungs were going to explode afterward.
There was also a silent auction and Cody was determined to buy me some things. He got all this for $8.25.
Lily also won me a cake in the cake walk.
I got lovely cards from Ray & the kids. Included was a gift certificate for a massage which I'm desperately in need of!
Cloudy Days:
- This cold is bringing me down.
- Nobody's looked at our house in over a week.
Sunshine Days:
- The cleaning ladies come tomorrow morning for the first time in a month! The last time they were due, I had a showing the day before so there was no point in them coming when I had just cleaned. Hopefully, someone will want to come see it Thursday!
- I met with some kitchen professionals this morning and think our kitchen design is finalized (knock on wood).
- Soccer season has begun!
- The house digging concluded this morning!
Today is "No Housework Day." Tell us: What's your least favorite chore around the house?
Cleaning. Oh, am I supposed to be more specific? Then, I suppose it would be bathrooms.
The realtor called today. We finally have our 1st showing tomorrow!! To make it even better, my cleaning ladies couldn't come yesterday because of the blizzard so they'll clean tomorrow right before the showing. Then, we're having an open house on Sunday afternoon. There shouldn't be much cleaning to do for that since we'll be gone most of Sat. at a wrestlling tournament.
P.S. Can someone tell me exactly how long that video below should take to process??
Thumbs Down:
- The cost of building this house is getting a little crazy aka scary.
- Lily's attitude has been atrocious lately. I dread every morning because of the fights. I guess we'll see if being grounded every night helps improve things.
- I found a summer picture of the front of our house (which is much more inviting that it currently looks) and had the realtor use it on their website. I know I have a summer picture of my backyard somewhere but can't find it so just took one. Doesn't it just make you want to move here?
And if that's not enticing enough I also took a shot looking down the street. The snowbanks are almost as tall as me (and I've grown 1/4 inch).
Thumbs Up:
- My house has never looked so perrrrty.
- All the realtors in town toured the house this morning. I guess there was good feedback. Now, they need to bring in the buyers!
- My roots are blonde again.
- The temperature is above 31 and snow is melting. PTL!
- I bought a new sweater at the mall today. Haven't tried it on yet.
Thumbs Down:
- Another winter storm with 2 more predicted within the week.
- Jace being home with a stomach ache.
- Not being able to go out to lunch with Bluebird since Jace is home sick.
- The dentist finding a cavity at my appt. on Tuesday.
- Our 2nd offer on the lot being rejected.
Thumbs Up:
- Getting our house listed yesterday!
- Having a super clean house.
- Finally having time to do something besides clean.
- My dad & brother going to church on Sunday without me being there to take them!
- Woman 2 Woman Monday night.
Our house officially goes on sale today. I swear I'm going to have an anxiety attack. I was crazy cleaning windows last night and keep finding other things that need done. Ray thinks I was abducted by aliens and replaced with a cleaning monster. He better not get too used to it because I'm not staying like this forever!
Our realtor comes at 11 and then she'll return at 1 with all the other realtors to tour. The idea of people critiquing my house just bothers me for some reason. Hopefully, it will sell quickly enough that we don't have to keep it spotless too long but not too fast that we have to move out before the end of May. We're not asking for much, are we?
I'm not finding much time to blog lately while trying to get this darn house ready to sell. I swear, I have never cleaned so much in my life! The carpet cleaner was here today. I cleaned out kitchen cabinets and spent 2 hours cleaning the fridge. I'm so glad I get to go relax and enjoy some fellowship at Woman to Woman this evening. I need some replenishing.
Thumbs Down:
- Not having the house ready to list this week. However, we did tell the realtor we'd be ready on Monday so now we have a deadline which is motivating for me.
- Getting all those little projects done around the house just to leave it!
- Cody being home for a 2nd day from school due to some kind of allergic rash that's making him itch like crazy.
Thumbs Up:
- I've shared before about Cody's very limited diet. He's also been very opposed to swallowing pills but the medication prescribed for his rash is the worst tasting stuff ever. It's impossible to disguise so we finally convinced him to try a pill. I expected a 1/2 hour ordeal with all kinds of drama to actually get the pill down him but he put it in some bread, popped it in his mouth, took a drink, and swallowed. You have no idea what an accomplishment for him that was and we were very proud!
- A lovely birthday.
- Great friends.
- Ray getting to come home from work for lunch.
