Bah Humbug:
- The Steelers football season is basically over for this year. They have to give another team a turn ;) We have so many injured players that it's just pretty hopeless.
- It causes me great stress to just be mailing my Christmas cards. I know that's probably odd but I like to have them out at the beginning of Dec. Dumb computer crash!
Merry Christmas:
- A friend and I made a shopping trip today to buy Christmas presents for a family whose having a rough December. It's a single mom of 5 and she crushed her wrist in a 4-wheeling accident so is unable to work. I have to say it finally got me in the holiday spirit!
- Our entire house is carpeted! Well, except for the theater which we don't plan to finish for a year or two. By the end of Monday, the rest of the flooring will be finished as well as the kitchen counter. We have 2 working toilets, too! (I'll post some more pictures soon).
- We've made plans to go back to Jamestown January 1-3 to move the rest of our furniture. Could still use some prayers for that house to sell. Anytime now would be just perfect!!
- We'll be moving in after we get our things. There will still be little stuff to do but we can do that while living there. I finally feel like I can get excited!!
- My grandma, aunt & uncle, brother & girlfriend, parents, and cousin's family will all be here for Christmas. I love a big Christmas! Ray is thrilled to not have to pack up every single present and travel this year.
Thumbs Down:
- We're not in our new house yet nor has our other house sold. Sigh.
- Our main computer crashed. Ray has everything working except Outlook. It wants a key-product code and we have no idea where it might be. I have about 200 email addresses and my calendar on there so feel like I've lost a limb.
- We're missing Cody's wrestling tournament today. It wasn't on the original schedule so we found out late and it's just not working out. I hate missing the kids' stuff.
Thumbs Up:
- The carpet for the main floor is scheduled to be installed on Monday.
- Booked our annual ski trip for after Christmas.
- Had a really nice Thanksgiving.
What is it too soon for?

Remember when we were here last and Jace threw up out of the blue on Christmas Eve? We were sure he had the flu which was going to affect our ski trip but then he never threw up again. Last night, we got here around 8:00. The kids went to bed around 9:30. At 10:30, I saw Jace come out and walk past the bathrooms and then start coming back when he threw up all over the floor. Once again, I thought here we go! There's way too much to get done this weekend for everyone to get sick. Well, he's been fine ever since. The only thing we can figure out is that he had a strawberry milkshake poptart when we arrived and had them over Christmas, too. We never buy them at home so they only eat them here. Cody eats them, too, but I'm thinking there's something in them that just doesn't agree with Jace. At least it's not the stomach flu!
We're meeting the realtor at 11 to go view some lots.
My parents got each of the boys a Steelers calendar for Christmas. Cody needed a new one for his room but I thought it was kind of an odd gift for Jace who's not quite 9 yrs old. Shows how much I know! Jace is going hog wild with the calendar. He crosses off each day, wrote in his wrestling practices & choir, and birthdays. He actually went to my calendar to find several birthdays and then was asking me for more. I noticed he'd missed my brother's birthday in July so I was having him fill that in when I noticed he'd written "at the lake" on July 4th. Then, he started asking when his great aunts' birthdays were and if I knew the exact dates we'd be at the lake. At the end of the calendar, there's an information section which he started filling out. He put in his name, address, family members' names, emergency phone numbers, and asked me what the number was for Poison Control. The kid was totally cracking me up.
After meeting up with Amy Sue in Billings, we headed back to my parents'. I was tickled to get a call from my "big sister" who I haven't seen for a couple of years. She's not really my sister. Her family lived at the end of my block growing up. Our parents played cards together and she was my very favorite babysitter. She's the youngest of 4 children so calls me the "little sister she never had". I'm usually really good about visiting her at least once a year but I've gotten lazy. So, it was a treat when she made the contact so we all went out to visit her family. It was nice catching up if even for a brief time.
I also met up with 2 of my best friends from growing up and we had lunch at the South 40.
Back at the house, Lily thought Rascal looked chilly and needed to wear her coat.
She also thought he would like to be read to and it put him right asleep.
Because we ended up traveling on Christmas Day, I forced asked the family to wear their Christmas clothes when we went out to supper on the 30th.
Ray somehow missed my order memo.
We returned to ND on the 31st.
After our ski trip, we returned to Billings where Ray's dad & Amy Sue met us for a night. We had supper at Cracker Barrel where I found an awesome bargain on Christmas ornaments. I got 11 very fancy ones for $5!! After supper, we returned to the hotel where the kids swam for awhile. Then, they watched a movie while Amy Sue & I kicked the boys' butts at pinochle.
After breakfast at Perkins, we parted ways and headed back to Sidney. We made a pit stop at my grandparents' house. It was sure good to see them both at home!
