Actually, it's not technically my nail gun, but my dear husband's. Bill needed me to nail the walls down to the new shed while he held them in place. I was definitely intimidated by this tool at first, but after a few shots, it was kinda fun! Very noisy, though.
Now we have walls! Yes, the tree will have to be cut back before the roof goes up.
Today I Like:
Charter will soon be gone from my life!
Caribou Coffee
Cool-looking, long painted fingernails of uniform length, despite the fact that they interfere with almost everything I do.
Cherries….dark red, sweet, & juicy. And on special at the grocery store. Yum!
Cottage cheese & red peppers
Copious amounts of Diet Pepsi
Cleaning supplies – from my Norwex party I got a free mop, cleaning cloth, body cloth, laundry detergent, and most of a jar of cleaning paste (as in I only had to pay for a bit of it…I am getting a full jar J). I also bought some dryer balls so I don’t have to use fabric softener on my towels yet hopefully they won’t be scratchy.
Cake…as in my birthday is tomorrow! Not like I’ll do anything but it’s fun just the same. I might buy myself this for a present.
“C”-ing (OK, that was a stretch) a new number on the scale this week. I’ve now officially hit the twenty-pounds-lost mark.
Today I Don’t Like:
Logging on to my school email this morning and realizing that I have to take a final tomorrow! It was on the schedule I got at the beginning of the semester but still it sneaked up on me.
Lake cabin party for work that I’ll be missing tonight due to the aforementioned lack of planning on my part. L
Losing my Charter email address after tomorrow. It’s hard to try to notify everyone when I get a new one.
Labor – as in work, as in sitting at my desk today when I’d rather be at home studying or sitting out in the sun (or both)!

1. We just bought a new (to us) pickup! 2006 F-150 Supercrew. It's part of the master plan since the child came along to get a 4 door pickup so I can haul kids around better. There's not much room in the back of an extended cab pickup for car seats.
2. I've lost 6 pounds on my diet. I didn't need to lose much, but thought I'd get it down before weight became an issue. I'm going to try and diet down to 190 or so, and then maintain under 200.
3. Different cellphone. It's just a RAZR, but my Treo was acting so annoying as of late, I'm just glad to have a decent phone, even if it is a hand me down.
4. I got to waterski this weekend! Totally dig the skiing. I wish I could do it every day because a) it's fun and b) it's a great workout.
Dislike-
1. Selling the old pickup. I'm a bit attached to it, and I hope there's a market for a 10 year old pickup with 146,000 miles on it.
2. I haven't been able to fly much lately. Mostly due to scheduling issues with us being out of town and stuff, but tomorow night I'm scheduled to go up again and after that I'll be flying a minimum of twice a week.
3. Studying for my FAA written exam. I didn't like it in college, and I haven't gotten so I like it any better now.
Last Saturday we took a drive up the Beartooth Highway. I've been there before, but every time is spectacular. The elevation is approximately 10,000 feet. We stopped and had a picnic lunch and did a little fishing on the Beartooth Lake.
On the way back, I did get a picture of some wildlife. Yes...we were looking for bear, but they were no where to be found. This little fellow was happy to get his picture taken, though!
Well, turned out my time alone with the baby didn't end up being that big of a deal! I guess it's really a case of mindset because normally, when the 5pm hour hits, I'm all ready to give the baby to Cat as soon as she walks in the door. However, this time around, I knew that we woudn't be seeing mommy for a few days so I just looked forward to when she'd eventually walk through the door... and she did. The problem was, she walked through the door at about 10pm at night, then left for work the next morning, so I didn't get much of a break until the weekend.
I think Maria could tell the difference, though. She was a little big clingly for the next few days after mommy got home, and she would just fight us and fight us when it came time to put her down. Can a 4 month old get like that? I didn't think so, but I may have been wrong. Anyway, I think life is about to return to a bit more of a normal pace now.... whatever that is.
Uh, would you believe - NO?
I just wrote a long post about my week and now it's gone. Internet Explorer just completely flaked out.
Short version:
- I'm exhausted. It's been a long week. Not in a bad way, just a lot going on.
- Charter sucks. Fortunately it will soon be gone from our lives. I don't care if they offer it free, after next week we will never be Charter customers again.
- My Norwex party went well. I'm getting free stuff! If none of my guests end up booking a party, I might book a second one so I can get a free mop. (I can't talk about having a mop without thinking about Michael Richards' character in UHF. Yep, the Weird Al movie. Rent it if you want a mindless laugh.)
- For the first time in a month I'm feeling semi-caught up on school. I think it's because I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Just a couple more weeks, hopefully, until I get a break.
- Bailey came home from camp yesterday. She had fun.
- The bathroom remodel is going well. Brian had the place gutted as of last week and Monday-Wednesday, the plumber, electrician, and ductwork guy came & went. Yesterday Dale Earnhardt, Jr. came and hung the sheetrock. Who knew that was what he did during the week? I wouldn't think he'd need a second job, but whatever. :) Some pictures:
Sophie and I got a girl's day out today. Victoria had a slumber party and Josiah went to Six Flags with his bestest friend in the whole wide world.
I had to track down a movie theatre in the area that was still playing the American Girl Doll movie. Seems it got bumped from a bunch of theatres because of The Dark Knight. I had been promising her all week we would go. Most of the showings were too early. I finally found one in Annapolis that was showing at 4:10pm.
I got everyone else to where they were going and we headed out. I was super excited because there is an Amish market AND a Whole Foods in the same shopping center. I needed more truffles (Yes, I finished off the box I bought Monday night, but in my defense I shared with the kids, my mom, my sister in law, and broke them out on TV Thursday.) and wanted to grab some creme fraiche since no local store sells it.
The movie was good, but a bit of a tear jerker. Not once, not twice, but like 5 times at least. The Great Depression was definitely depressing. The cool thing was almost every group that came in consisted of a mom, some kids, and a great grandma (at least, I'm assuming it was a great grandma, they all looked like my Mom-Mom). There was even an elderly couple by themselves. I couldn't help but think that my Mom-Mom would've enjoyed it, considering she lived through the Great Depression herself.
After the movie we hit up Whole Foods. I bought my truffles and creme fraiche. I also picked up some cute grocery bags that were made from recycled plastic bottles. I love me some reusable bags. I hate plastic grocery bags with a vengence. They always seem to multiply and it's gotten to the point that I feel horribly guilty throwing them away knowing they are just going to sit in a landfill somewhere. The hardest thing is making sure I remember to take my bags into the grocery store when I shop.
On the way home, Sophie was dropping hints about going to dinner at Sakura, a Japanese hibachi restaurant. I was trying to steer her toward a local Korean restaurant, even reminding her that Jon and Kate Plus 8 just made Korean food. She could have some just like they made. She wasn't buying it though.
Steve got home shortly after us, and was like, let's go to Sakura, without Soph ever saying a word. Needless to say, she was thrilled. She was also thrilled to find she is too old for the kid's menu, so she got an adult portion. Nothing like a good dinner and enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Knowing Sophie, she may just break it out for breakfast.
So, anyway, I'm rambling. Soph's in bed, so Steve and I are going to curl up and watch a movie.
We went to Billings yesterday and bought the materials for the work shed Bill is going to build. I was a little sore by the end of the day. First I helped him load lumber, lumber, lumber onto the carts at Lowe's. We ended up with 3 carts and a basket. Some of this stuff is rather heavy! This didn't include the insulation & sheet-rock to finish the inside. It did include a neat door with windows & a little window for the side. He tried to convince me that he needed a little fridge to put in it....I told him he should get overhead lights & electrical supplies instead! I helped him load it all onto the trailer. Then I helped him load it all off the trailer when we got home. My stomach muscles hurt! Today he started to build. I can't wait until it's done. I picked out the paint...eventually we'll use the same 2 colors to paint our house! All the "stuff" in the last two photos background will fit nicely into the new shed when it's complete!
Here's the load I helped with.
Here's a happy man...
The kid's swimming pool sat here before Bill started to build. We're moving it to another location.
